First Lady Fashion - Really Michelle...Really?

How is it that Michelle Obama can look so perfectly appropriate one night
as she does in this Tom Ford gown and dangle earrings

and then then the next night
totally blow it with pairing a beautiful Ralph Lauren dress
with tacky and trashy Tom Binns costume jewelry?

With access to all of the great new fine jewelry created by American jewelry designers

not to mention all the beautiful estate jewelry that could easily be loaned to her

why would she choose to wear art project gone wrong costume jewelry nonsense by an Irish designer?

No disrespect to the Irish here...

it's just that Michelle Obama's job is to promote American design, products and industry

as Carla Bruni Sarkozy does so well for the fashion and jewelry houses of France.

Is Mrs Obama even aware of the fact that there is a fine jewelry industry in the US that employs thousands of Americans and provides tax revenue to coffers of Washington DC?

I don't care what she wears in her private life,

but her fashion choices for a state dinner should reflect her position as First Lady.

I am so annoyed by this that I'm adding to my post

Since virtually any American fine jewelry designer would have happily loaned the first lady jewelry

why couldn't her people have contacted some of the great American women designers

such as

Rhonda Faber Green

Cathy Waterman

Lorraine Schwartz

Cynthia Bach

Elizabeth Locke

Judith Ripka

Lori Rodkin

Wendy B

and the list goes on and on....

Mrs. Obama, please promote your peeps.

Rachida Dati or Another Reason To Love The French

Just trying to keep up with the shenanigans at the Elysee Palace is exhausting.
Thankfully, we now have the new tell all book about femme fatale first lady Carla Bruni.
According to "Carla and the Ambitious" by Michael Darman and Yves Derai, Rachida Dati, former Justice Minister, was also competing for President Sarkozy's attentions.
Miss Dati was fired from President Nicolas Sarkozy’s government last year because of her inability to do her job properly, and her frivolous nature.

She frequently appeared on the cover of magazines in designer dresses and stirred up speculation about the mystery father of her baby daughter to the extent that some still think it might be Mr Sarkozy himself.
Miss Dati was a love rival of Mr Sarkozy’s third wife, Carla Bruni, for many months as both battled for a place in the Elysee Palace bed chamber.

And now, according to this article in the Daily Mail
Glamorous French politician Rachida Dati has been forced to issue a public apology after confusing oral sex with inflation.
The 44-year-old former justice minister and MEP is frequently nicknamed ‘Rachida Barbie’ because of her poor understanding of complicated political issues.
But nobody expected her extraordinary mistake on the national Europe 1 radio station on Sunday.
Seriously, how do you apologize for something like this
say, 'ooops, my bad'?
Can you imagine Janet Napolitano, Kathleen Sibelius or Hilda Solis making a Freudian slip like this?
I think not.

First Family Vacations - French Style

In contrast to that ancien régime style Marbella boondoggle  for Michele Obama and friends

financed by the taxpayers to the tune of $75,000 per day

the First Family of France took a more low key approach to their summer vacance.

Let's see...

They stayed in their own country...at Carla's family home in Cap Nègre not taking over a wing or two in some high end resort

They went out and about in town and mixed it up with their peeps

and, they spent the holiday together
Look at the way that she is hanging on him in his sweaty shirt.
They look genuinely happy together, non?
