Voloptuous Vixens in Italian Vogue and Gilded Greecian Goddeesses in French Vogue

Did you know about the new issue of  Italian Vogue?
I didn't but I read about it on The Sartorialist today.

I'm not so hot about the way the model was posed on the right side of the cover

But I do think that these girls are beautiful

What do you think about the magazine using voluptuous models?


Have you see this month's French Vogue?
I thought that homage to Linda Evagelista photographed by Mert and Marcus was rather clever.

I also liked the fact that the entire issue was devoted to Greece

especially now that the country could benefit by some increased tourism.

There were lots of shots like with models in bathing suits and major gold bracelets.

I don't know anyone who actually wears such big bling on the beach

but it makes for a beautiful image.

And then in perusing the magazine, imagine my surprise when I saw this exact image on one of the accessories pages featuring Greek Jewelry.

I was thrilled to see our image in print in French Vogue...

but it would have been nice for Beladora to have been credited.

Admittedly, I snag images for BHB all the time and I rarely credit the photographer or the source

so I guess turnaround is fair play.

French Vogue - The Roman Polanski Edition

About a month ago I slammed US Vogue for its fawning article about Asma al-Assad promoting Dictator Chic.
Now I'm onto French Vogue for these photos of glammed up pre-pubescent girls.
Who is their audience for these photos, Roman Polanski?

I find these photos of not just in bad taste but outright offensive
Is this the reaction that the editors were seeking?

I find it ironic that French parents, indeed most European parents, tend to dress their young daughters in charming yet age appropriate outfits.
Then I wonder why does French Vogue give us 'Pretty Baby' style prostitots?

Lara Stone In Vogue - The Naughty and The Nice

The lovely Lara Stone seems to be everywhere these days and she is most definitely the current darling of Vogue. Christina at Fashion's Most Wanted posted this oh la la image of Lara by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott for the cover of French Vogue for the 90th anniversary issue. This sexy strong image doesn't actually scream fashion to me, but what do I know, I'm not French.
I'm guessing that you might not go for the full on 'Eyes Wide Shut' (a la Dash) style topless, lace masked look, but the cameo choker is doable, non?
Just buy a wide black velvet ribbon and add this.

American Vogue leaving the naughty to the French, because they do it so well, instead gave us the nice, with Lara as the girl next door in an editorial also photographed by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
Well coiffed and cashmere covered, we get the good girl ingenue complete with a diamond cross from Tiffany & Co. Perhaps the full on 1950's style Nina Ricci sweater and skirt are too much coverage for you, consider instead the diamond cross because it is a classic.
